Armes progetti has devised a campaign to increase public funding for culture by at least 1% of GDP by collecting signatures through a dedicated website.
The proposal has its roots in the concept of cultural sustainability on the possibility that Europe can make its own a Pact for Cultural Sustainability which can also find legitimacy within the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, where Article 167 emphasises that the Union itself ‘contributes to the full development of the cultures of the Member States’.
The ‘1 for all, all for 1’ initiative is one of the first direct democracy proposals capable of giving European citizens a voice to influence society.
